Using brain organoids to study development and disease

Understanding how the human brain functions in health and disease is one of the greatest challenges in science – not only because the subject is so complex, but also because human samples are rare due to ethical restrictions. Instead, scientists use three-dimensional human brain organoids as a novel model system to analyze healthy brain development and how it goes awry, causing brain diseases. In her talk, Agnieszka Rybak-Wolf will present what brain organoids are, how we can generate them, and how they can be applied to study human diseases.
