Personal mobility data, i.e. the movement patterns of individuals, offer great added value, for example for optimising traffic flows or modelling the spread of diseases. However, such data is also highly sensitive, as the places we visit can reveal a great deal of information about us, such as where we live, our religious and political affiliations, or even medical information.
In an interactive presentation, we show how easily people can be identified via supposedly anonymous movement data.
