Long Night of the Sciences in Berlin and Potsdam, which takes place once a year – typically on a Saturday at the end of May or early June – is a joint project by the region's scientific institutions. The event is organised by Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften e. V. (LNDW e. V.) and brings together scientific and science-related institutions.
The association is open to all scientific and science-related institutions that regularly take part in Long Night of the Sciences. Membership is decided by the general meeting. LNDW e. V. is dedicated to promoting science and research as well as to promoting education, popular education and vocational training, including student assistance. This purpose is achieved especially by organising Long Night of the Sciences in Berlin and Potsdam. Further details can be found in the statutes of the association.
The association’s head office handles the overall coordination of the Long Night of the Sciences event and the association's work. This office is always located with the institution that currently provides the chairperson for LNDW e.V. The chairperson is newly elected every two years.
